Preparation For Deer Season
well deer season is now less than a week away and i still cant believe it. today my dad and i went out to clean up a few things around the woods to be ready for friday morning. i have been looking into buying a tripod stand for strategic purposes. you see, my wooden ladder stand is in a good place. it is tucked into the woods on the edge of a field. its facing the woods. to my back about 150 yards away is a large sinkhole surounded by about 3 acres of trees. deer love to shack up there. in between me and the sinkhole is a wheat field that is wide open. i have the option of hunting with my muzzleloader because of this. but there is one problem i am facing. there is a deer trail that comes out about 100 yards or so down the line in the woods that i hunt. it comes out to a corner connected to an alleyway that deer love to travel and are guaranteed to be every evening. i cannot see this area because i am blocked off visually from the woods. this is where my strategic tripod stand coems in. i would put it down the line pretty close to this trail so that when they come out i can be ready for them. well i will see what happens this friday.

As much as I enjoy watching th deer in the fields, I know they have to be thinned out because they are everywhere!I have almost hit one every other day coming to school. They are on the move and you can really tell. Our bird dogs jumped one up the other day because they were in an area that they don't usally bed down in. It was quite a surprise!
