Random hockey post
i admit that i am an adamant hockey fan. been watching it since the colorado avalanche won the stanley cup in 2001. back then i was a fan of the avs. then came the red wings the next year to win the cup. and i was a fan of them then. oh but my stl blues come first. ive been secret fans of the others. but the blues come first over the others anytime. i was with them in the days of pierre turgeon, al mcinnis, chris pronger, and pavol demitra. i can name all the goaltenders they have used since then (sore subject amongst blues fans). mcinnis was my favorite player back then. now its erik johnson. call me a sucker for the defenseman but i just love the position. i mean they are the very last line of defense if the puck gets into their zone. anyone who is a hockey fan can appreciate that. this season looks like its going to be good, but lately we have looked bad. once t.j. oshie went down we havent looked the same. i hope they turn it around real quick and ride some momentum into the playoffs in april and may. but who knows. its a long season.
twas the day of deer season....
twas the day of deer season, and all through the woods, not a creature was stirring.... well maybe a few squirrels. like how i kept with the season there? anyway the first firearm season was DEAD. i saw six on friday (one in the morning and 5 in the afternoon), nothing saturday, and 1 sunday evening. more on that later though. i talked to a few people around and the word is the same all around: this was not a good season. everyone says that they were just not moving. if they seen some they just did not have any luck. this weekend was the worst i have seen in a while. these past few seasons have been bad. but nothing compared to this. my friend chad buch shot his share of deer this weekend while hunting on our ground. i myself was also lucky enough to get a last second shot at a 6 point buck that i took down. he literally came out at 4:53. and anyone who hunts knows that you are usually out by a little after 5. well it was about ten after when i started dressing him so it was dark.anyway long story short this past season was horrible. luckily there is another season this upcoming weekend. so i will give yall a report from the field after that.

Preparation For Deer Season
well deer season is now less than a week away and i still cant believe it. today my dad and i went out to clean up a few things around the woods to be ready for friday morning. i have been looking into buying a tripod stand for strategic purposes. you see, my wooden ladder stand is in a good place. it is tucked into the woods on the edge of a field. its facing the woods. to my back about 150 yards away is a large sinkhole surounded by about 3 acres of trees. deer love to shack up there. in between me and the sinkhole is a wheat field that is wide open. i have the option of hunting with my muzzleloader because of this. but there is one problem i am facing. there is a deer trail that comes out about 100 yards or so down the line in the woods that i hunt. it comes out to a corner connected to an alleyway that deer love to travel and are guaranteed to be every evening. i cannot see this area because i am blocked off visually from the woods. this is where my strategic tripod stand coems in. i would put it down the line pretty close to this trail so that when they come out i can be ready for them. well i will see what happens this friday.
